General Lab Information

BROOKHAVEN LAB SITE DELAYS OPENING UNTIL 11 A.M TODAY, WEDNESDAY, 2/12 (10 a.m. Gate Opening for Non-Essential Personnel) Brookhaven National Laboratory will delay site opening for non-essential personnel until 11 a.m. today, Wednesday, Feb. 12, as a result of snow and slippery conditions on site. The Main Gate and North Gate will be available for entry ONE HOUR EARLIER at 10 a.m. for non-essential employees. This delayed site opening will allow crews to properly clear and sand roadways, parking lots, sidewalks, and building entries. Essential personnel should continue to report for their scheduled shifts or as instructed by supervisors. Non-essential personnel should remain off site and not approach the gate until at least 10 a.m. The 11 a.m. site opening for non-essential personnel is to ensure ample opportunity for staff to enter the Lab safely after the official delayed gate opening time, park, and walk to buildings.

Our Mission

We advance fundamental research in nuclear and particle physics to gain a deeper understanding of matter, energy, space, and time; apply photon sciences and nanomaterials research to energy challenges of critical importance to the nation; and perform cross-disciplinary research on computation, sustainable energy, national security, and Earth’s ecosystems.
